New Director of Channel will drive opportunities through qualified VARs.

Indianapolis, IN (January 4, 2010) – Sensory Technologies, a leader in videoconference and collaborative audio-visual solutions, today introduced its new mobile video conferencing product Meeting on the Move™ to be sold via their newly formed channel business unit for value-added resellers (VARs), system integrators and independent IT consulting firms focused on developing business within the Americas. At a time when managers are challenged with decreasing the cost of doing business and meeting revenue objectives, this select group of resellers will deliver Sensory Technologies’ efficient and cost-effective solutions to organizations.

“The channel sales program will significantly increase our market penetration by authorizing channel partners to resell Meeting on the Move™, the most advanced video communication product on the market,” said Derek Paquin, Principal of Sensory Technologies. “Sensory Technologies is a recognized and trusted brand that resellers can leverage across industries, and our world-class support structure through our Network Operations Center ensures that partners can stay focused on meeting the needs of their clients. By implementing a channel-neutral model and investing our development efforts into toplevel industry resellers, we’ve created a win-win dynamic for us, our partners and our clients.”

“We have developed a mobile video conferencing solution in the unified communications area called Meeting on the Move™ that essentially turns any laptop or desktop into a $20,000 video conference room with content sharing for only $149 per month. This is a product that a reseller can present to their clients that will bring organizations closer together via visual communication, additionally, helping their client decrease the amount of money they are spending on necessary meetings to do business,” said Ben Miller, Director of Channel Development. “Our model is unique in that the reseller will see an increase in commission each month from incremental revenue and the client will see their business costs decrease.”

Video conferencing has taken a dramatic increase in usage with the current economic down turn. Businesses instead of paying high airfares and gas prices for meetings are now looking at a cost effective solution to do business. Interactive Data Corporation’s (IDC) QuickPoll eVideo Survey found that 75% of companies currently use videoconferencing as a communication tool and 80% of those companies plan on increasing their videoconference usage. The key reason for the use of enterprise video adoption by these companies was due to cost savings.

The lens through which we viewed business growth in 2009 had a significantly different focus than that of recent years. Challenges were faced head on this year, and many stories of survival are shadowed by tough realities faced by colleagues in this very close-knit industry. Now, as news of an impending economic recovery gradually manifests itself on balance sheets, many are surveying the damage and preparing to move forward. As the calendar year comes to a close, SCN presents its annual compendium of business outlooks from the top ranks of commercial AV integration.

The Top 50 systems integrators in the U.S. and Canada are ranked here by projected systems integration revenue for 2009. As some companies are also involved in other segments of integration, we asked entrants to separate their commercial AV systems installation revenue from overall revenue. Once again this year, as always, Top 50 submissions were voluntary. The chart ranks those companies willing to share their internal numbers to establish a snapshot of the industry. While the bottom line is certainly important in any business climate, the Top 50 chart is only one way to view an industry where success and longevity are determined by more than mere numbers. This is a business defined by character, and that is one index that has absolutely risen in the past year. We look forward to more upward trends in this and every category in 2010.

By Tim Kridel

For event organizers, one sure-fire way to persuade people to sit though a daylong meeting is to hold it someplace where there are ample recreational facilities–perhaps even enough so attendees might bring along the spouses and kids and wrap a family vacation around the event.

That strategy helps explain why, for example, places such as amusement parks are steadily adding executive conference facilities. Not only can such facilities represent an additional draw, but they’re also a way to goose business during the off-season.

“There’s been a rise in indoor water parks,” says Derek Paquin, director of business development at Sensory Technologies, an Indianapolis-based integrator. “They put in large, elaborate conference centers and hotels associated with these indoor and outdoor water parks. That way, they can get conferences throughout the year.”

Of course, water parks aren’t an isolated example. From law firms to banks to pharmaceutical companies, executive conference facilities are being added or upgraded at a healthy pace, say integrators, vendors,
and analysts. In fact, many say these bigger-than-aconference- room but smaller-than-a-convention-center venues represent one of the few bright spots in pro AV these days.

Why? Business goes on, and that means so must meetings. And because spending on an executive conference facility typically allows an enterprise to slash travel costs, it’s easier to make a business case for such projects as opposed to, say, digital signage in a challenging advertising market, or a surveillance system that doesn’t bolster the bottom line.

“Anne was integral in helping us to achieve one of our goals, which was the development of a fixed consult room at Riley Hospital for Children.” Anne Sellers, in conjunction with the Riley Children’s Foundation helped make a presentation to secure funding to buy equipment for this room. “It has been great for our program. We now have a designated room that our physicians can come to. It is right downstairs from where their outpatient clinics are. They can come down and do a telemedicine clinic very quickly and very easily in a comfortable, well wired room and then go right back upstairs to provide outpatient services here. Anne was very key to getting that going and developing that room which was huge for growing our services within the hospital.”
