Tech Expo 2018 showcases futuristic innovations that are changing how employees communicate at work

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Attendees of Tech Expo 2018 on Jan. 23 will engage in immersive experiences — specifically, taking a look at the ways technology innovations are changing how people are able to communicate in the workplace.

As part of the 8th annual event hosted by Sensory Technologies, more than 20 leading vendors will be demonstrating products that explore virtual and augmented reality, and other collaborative and immersive experiences that are helping companies accelerate their business goals.

Leading tech experts also will host presentations throughout the daylong event, which runs from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Memorial Art Gallery on the University of Rochester campus in Rochester, N.Y. The event is free. However, registration is encouraged at sensorytechnologies.com/techexpo18ny/

Sensory Technologies, one of the largest collaborative and audio video technology solutions providers in the nation, started hosting the event in 2010. The expo was created in response to the accelerating pace of technology being used by companies to gain a competitive advantage in their industries.

“Technology has become an integral part of our day-to-day lives and it’s especially evident in the way that we communicate,” said Derek Paquin, Principal of Sensory Technologies. “And it’s constantly changing. We’ve been hosting this Tech Expo as an annual event to help businesses get hands-on experiences with technological innovations just as they’re hitting the market. It’s one thing to read about these advances but quite another to be able to see first-hand how technology can make a difference in your actual workplace.”

Paquin also said that technology is increasingly becoming more than a “nice to have” feature in the workplace. It’s essential to remain competitive with attracting the top talent as well as gaining clients, he said.

Bose, Panasonic, Yamaha, Crestron, Bosch, Biamp, NEC, Epson and Shure are among the more than 20 vendors who will be on hand to demonstrate their latest product and system releases. The demos will span numerous areas, including digital messaging and signage, 3D wayfinding, mixed reality, space design and interactive collaboration, and how they can specifically benefit companies.

Presentation topics include the following:

  • “Embracing Technology Approaches that Engage Tomorrow’s Workforce”
  • “Bending Physics to Meet the Needs of Today’s Spaces”
  • “Emerging Trends in Technology”
  • “AV Technology Impacting Architectural Design” (AIA credit available)

The event also will help attendees get insights on the foundational basics of various components. The topics of these 15-minute learning sessions include Control System Basics, Microphones and Speakers for Conferencing, Video Conferencing: Codecs vs. Software Clients; Projection vs. Flat Panels and Signals, Resolution and Extension.
